NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Rescheduled at Route 66 Raceway

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event rained out April 28 at Route 66 Raceway has been rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21. No new entries will be accepted for the event.

Pit gates will be open Friday, July 19 from 5 - 11 p.m. for parking and will re-open Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. Super Street, Super Stock, Super Gas, Super Comp and Stock eliminators will have a single time trial Saturday morning then go directly into eliminations which will be run to their conclusion Saturday afternoon. Stock eliminator had completed first round of eliminations and will pick up with round two on the original ladder. Super Street first round was only partially completed and will resume at that point.

Since eliminations were not in progress for Super Stock at the time of postponement, the actual number of returning contestants will be randomly paired for the first round. Contestants will be positioned on a ladder for round two of eliminations based on furthest under the Index in round one.

TAD, TAFC and Competition will resume qualifying with two sessions planned on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations for TAD, TAFC and Competition will take place on Sunday, July 21 along with a special bracket racing program. Qualifying times previously posted will remain, however contestants not returning for the conclusion of the event will be automatically withdrawn from the event and will be omitted from the qualifying sheet.

"We actually have 444 cars still remaining in the event and anticipate that a large number of them will be returning to Route 66 for the event's conclusion," stated Jay Hullinger, NHRA Division Director. "While our initial hope was to complete the remainder of the event in a single day, there simply is too much racing to accomplish. By finishing the qualifying runs for TAD, TAFC and Competition (they had run only one of the originally scheduled three sessions) on Saturday and running their elimination rounds on Sunday it enables us to run in full the remaining sportsman categories of Stock, Super Stock, Super Street, Super Gas and Super Comp on Saturday."

In addition to Sunday's eliminations in TAD, TAFC and Competition the track will host a special Box and No-Box ET bracket race. Sportsman racers that finish Saturday will have the opportunity to stay over and participate in the bracket program on Sunday, plus it adds another bracket racing event for Route 66-area racers. The track's Jr. Dragster event originally scheduled for Saturday, July 20 has been moved back a day and will be included with Sunday's bracket event.

All tickets and rain checks from the April 27-28 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Event and Route 66 Raceway Season Opener will be honored on both Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21, regardless of whether the ticket was purchased for April 27 or 28. Additional tickets may be purchased for July 20-21 at a cost of $10.00 for each day. For further information or to order tickets, call the Route 66 Raceway Box office at (815)727-RACE.
