Blazing down the track at a flawless 4.512 ? second pass at 326.16 mph, Tony ?The Sarge? Schumacher ran a career best time and slid into his fifth career number one position for Sunday?s running of the Lucas Oil Route 66 Nationals. With his great run, the pilot of the United States Army Top Fuel dragster moved up from fifth to the top of the Top Fuel order, and in the process, ripped off a season and career best run. ?This is just what this team needed,? said Schumacher. ?The start of this season has been rough, and this just goes to show how hard work and determination pays off.? The Sarge will face number 16th-place qualifier, Luigi Novelli in the first round of eliminations, slated for 11 a.m. CDT start. ?This team is looking for big results this weekend,? said the 1999 Top Fuel Champ. ?With the type of season we had so far, I would love to win here in my hometown, and use this to turn our season around.?
