PROJECT R.A.C.E.R. BOOK DRIVE BENEFTITS SCHOOLS September 22, 2004 ? DONATE & WIN!!! Donate a new or gently used childrens book at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway and you will be eligible to win autographed merchandise from some of your favorite NHRA drivers. Drawings will be held after the event weekend. Project R.A.C.E.R. is a cooperative effort between Route 66 Raceway and Laraway School District to rebuild and update the school library. Project R.A.C.E.R. (Reading Aloud Creates Enthusiastic Readers) has been an ongoing project developed to encourage students to read and promote literacy in local schools. This drive will put much needed books and teaching materials into the hands of children ages 5-13. Fans are encouraged to donate new to gently used books appropriate for students levels Kindergarten-8th Grade. Book drops will be located toward the South end of the grandstands at the staging lane entrance. All books collected will be donated to Laraway School and Oak Valley School in Joliet.
