Two-time defending NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon saw his impressive string of 53 races qualified for end Saturday at Route 66 Raceway. Dixon and the Miller Lite Top Fuel team struggled to get a handle on the cold Route 66 Raceway quarter mile and missed the cut for Sunday?s final eliminations. Dixon?s 53-race streak of consecutive starts ranked eighth in the four professional categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike) and second in the Top Fuel class to Doug Kalitta. The last time Dixon didn?t make the 16-car field was June 2002. Dixon and Don Prudhomme?s Miller Lite team will head back to their Brownsburg, Ind. race shop and regroup before heading back to eastern Pennsylvania to make up the 20th annual Lucas Oil Nationals, Oct. 8-10, in Reading, Pa. The race was postponed due to rain in September. ESPN2 will broadcast two hours of final eliminations coverage from the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals at 8 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 3. E.T.
