Dixon to Throw Out First Pitch at White Sox Game

Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday, June 7, prior to the start of the Chicago White Sox home game. Dixon also threw out the first pitch for the defending World Series champions last June.

Dixon, the winningest active Top Fuel driver with 38 career victories, will take the mound at U.S. Cellular Field prior to the start of the 7:05 p.m. game between the Detroit Tigers and the White Sox. The White Sox currently trail the Tigers by 2.5 games in the American League Central division standings. This is the third time in two seasons that the 1995 NHRA Rookie of the Year has thrown out the first pitch before a Major League Baseball game.

"Once again, I'm honored to get the opportunity to do this," Dixon said. "This is the third time for me in a Major League ballpark and I think it's a big deal. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity. And, as it turns out, it's a big game between two of the top teams in the league. I promise everybody that this won't count towards community service hours."

Dixon and Don "the Snake' Prudhomme's Miller Lite Top Fuel team will return to action June 8-11 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill. during the ninth annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals. It is the only trip for the NHRA POWERade Series to the record-setting Chicagoland track in 2006. Dixon earned the victory at the Joliet race in 2002 en route to claiming his first NHRA championship.
