JOLIET, Ill. - The staff of Route 66 Raceway congratulates Route 66 Raceway's NHRA Jr. Dragster team for winning the Team Spirit Award at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn.

National Dragster editor Candida Benson reported that our local team won the award based on the most important fundamentals the best athletes possess - sportsmanship, originality, and teamwork.

Route 66 Raceway Team 1 finished in a four-way tie for sixth in the final points with 25, just five points behind the winning team, Benson said. More than 50 teams competed at the event.

Route 66 Team 2 finished tied for 46th.

Individual award winners included Nichole Medeisis, who earned the Closest to Dial award for the 11-year-old age group for running dead on her dial in the first round (8.900), Benson reported, while Zach Sackman had the best finish with a semifinal finish in the 13-year-old age group.
