STEVE SCHMIDT RACING ENGINES NAMED SPONSOR OF TOP SPORTSMAN “FAST FOUR” RACE DURING ROUTE 66 RACEWAY BURNDOWN AT SUNDOWN, JUNE 11
June 3, 2011 (Joliet, Ill.) – Steve Schmidt Racing Engines will sponsor the Top Sportsman “Fast Four” race during the Route 66 Raceway Burndown at Sundown on Saturday, June 11. The Steve Schmidt Racing Engines Top Sportsman “Fast Four” is a special bonus race during the Burndown at Sundown, a part of the NHRA North Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway. The four quickest Top Sportsman qualifiers will be paired up in a special heads-up race during the final qualifying session. The winner of each pair will return for their final round of eliminations later in the evening. The “Fast Four” drivers will be recognized during Saturday night pre-race ceremonies with the winner enjoying a special post race awards ceremony. The winner and runner-up of the special, two-round shootout race will collect a $300 and $200 payout respectively.
The Burndown at Sundown is an exciting night of drag racing action. Jet dragsters and jet funny cars will deliver an exciting finale to an evening of match racing between Lee Shepherd and Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins tribute Nostalgia Pro Stockers while the Shake, Rattle & Run ’57 Chevy will square off against “Animal” Jim Feurer’s Mercury Zypher. The Wheelie Wagon will perform a quarter-mile wheel stand at speeds up to 150 miles per hour.
