Joliet, Ill. (May 25, 2017) — Route 66 Raceway announced today that this year’s D'Arcy Buick GMC Route 66 Classic, which  promises an unprecedented level of content that pays homage to the early days of drag racing and hot rod culture, will feature a wide variety of  charity components that will benefit the surrounding Joliet area community on Saturday, August 19

This area will feature live airbrushing by Eddie Figus and pin striping by Bill “Jive” Jarvis. Each artist will create a unique piece on the spot to be auctioned off to benefit R.A.C.E.

Miss Classic Pin-Up Contest

As part of the contest, the ladies will be challenged to enter the pits and solicit donations benefitting Pits for Patriots. The contestant that earns the most in donations will be crowned the Queen of Hearts. Those interested in participating in the contest can submit an entry now through July at

Pits for Patriots rescues and trains pit bulls to be service dogs for veterans and first responders with physical and emotional needs. The organization works fervently to alter the negative public opinion surrounding the pit bull breed while simultaneously delivering veterans and first responders with the support they require. Pits for Patriots provides a trained animal to the recipient for no cost.

In addition to the illustrious charitable aspects of the D'Arcy Buick GMC Route 66 Classic, the event will feature a classic car cruise-in for antique automobile 1979 and older, a vintage market complete with unique opportunities to immerse yourself in yesteryear, throwback tunes provided by Greg’s Fender Benders and the Three Blue Tear Drops and nostalgia match drag racing.
