Joliet, Ill. (December 12, 2017) — Route 66 Raceway today announced that acclaimed events the Burndown at Sundown and the D'Arcy GMC Route 66 Classic will return to the World’s First True Stadium of Drag Racing in 2018.

“We witnessed incredible success with the Burndown at Sundown and the D'Arcy GMC Route 66 Classic in 2017, highlighted by ideal weather, exciting racing action and unparalleled content that only Route 66 Raceway can deliver,” said Scott Paddock, President of Route 66 Raceway. “We look forward to building upon that momentum in 2018 with an enhanced spectator midway and supreme racing during both events.”

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will grace new dates in 2018 as it returns July 13-15. This event showcases the best in sportsman racers in classes that produced many of today’s pro racers. On Saturday, the Burndown at Sundown will light up the night with jet-propelled, fire-breathing cars rocketing to speeds approaching 300 miles per hour. Route 66 Raceway will bring even more fire to the event this year with the addition of in-event pyrotechnics and more surprises along the way.

Then, following unprecedented content in 2017, the Route 66 Classic returns August 18, 2018 to once again pay homage to the early days of drag racing and hot rod culture. Fans attending the Route 66 Classic will leave the world of today and take a trip to yester-year as the event features nostalgia match racing, a Classic Car Cruise-In, pin up contest, tiki bar and more!
