Dubbed the “King of the Dragsters,” and Patriarch of Top Fuel Drag Racing, Garlits will Visit the World’s Premier Drag Racing Facility this Spring


Joliet, Ill. — February 5, 2018 — Route 66 Raceway today announced that “Big Daddy” Don Garlits will attend the NHRA Route 66 Nationals May 31-June 3 to partake in Route 66 Raceway’s 20th anniversary celebration. From his 17 World Championship Titles to his classic car collection and drag racing museum to his car design innovation, “Big Daddy’s” living legacy is so significant it remains unparalleled in the sport of drag racing.

Each weekend through the 2018 season, the NHRA will honor iconic figures of the sport with their Legends Tour. The Legends Tour at Route 66 Raceway will mark the year-long 20th anniversary celebration of the World’s First True Stadium of Drag Racing. The NHRA Route 66 Nationals weekend will honor iconic figures of the sport including, but not limited Don Garlits, Gary Dyer and Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick. Numerous other NHRA and local drag racing dignitaries will be in attendance to greet fans and take part in the weekend festivities.
