SEASON POINTS ADDED: TRACK CHAMPIONS CROWNED AS HAUSLER, EWIG, HEADRICK, PRYKA WIN EVENT

JOLIET, Ill. – Kenny King (Super Pro), Ken Kamba Jr. (Pro), Paul O’Keefe (Sportsman) and Tom Ewig (Bike) were crowned 2009 Route 66 Raceway track champions on Sunday after two days of Rockett Brand Race Fuels ET Bracket Racing action.

King topped the standings with 327 points, edging out Larry Bokal by a mere 12 points. Three weeks ago he was down in the standings and didn’t believe he had a chance, he said. This crown will remind him to not give up.

KING, JURCZYK, EWIG, POGLIANO AND TAYLOR WIN AT FIRST OF TWO MAKE-UP RACES OF WEEKEND

JOLIET, Ill. – Kenny King’s father Jerry watched him race at Route 66 Raceway on Saturday – the first race he’s attended since the track’s inaugural race 11 years ago. The trip had a happy ending – Jerry saw his son race all the way to the winner’s circle.

Kenny King drove his Super Pro dragster to a 7.753-second finish at 168.09 mph to defeat Dane Hartmann in the final round of the rescheduled ET Bracket Series race presented by Rockett Brand Race Fuels. Other winners included Jeff Jurczyk in Pro, Tom Ewig in Bike, Anthony Pogliano in Sportsman and Martin Taylor in High School.

GRZELINSKI BECOMES FIRST TO EARN CONSECUTIVE TITLES; HOWARD, KONN, ANTONACI ALSO WIN

JOLIET, Ill. – Reigning Top Sportsman world champion Tony Grzelinski earned his second consecutive title on Saturday at a variety day of racing that also included a Bonus Race for Route 66 Raceway’s North Central Division NHRA Finals team and an informal, unscored Powder Puff race for the women.

Grzelinski secured his throne with a 7.699-second finish at 179.61 mph. He broke out, running faster than predicted, but it didn’t matter as challenger Tim Kirman fouled out at the starting line.

NHRA FULL THROTTLE SERIES RETURNS TO ROUTE 66 JUNE 3-6, 2010

JOLIET, Ill. – The world’s fastest motorsport returns to Route 66 Raceway for the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals June 3-6, 2010. NHRA announced the 2010 schedule for the NHRA Full Throttle Series today – and it included several notable changes. Charlotte will now host two national events, one March 25-28 and the other Sept. 16-19. The order of the famed Western Swing has also changed, and will go from Seattle to Sonoma, Calif. to Denver.

2009 Schedule for Route 66 Raceway

The 2009 season at Route 66 Racway is officially underway! We're very excited to bring you another great year of racing and are looking forward to having you be a part of it.

Just a reminder that this weekend's Rockett Brand Race Fuel E.T. Bracket Series presented by Gas City race is schedule for Saturday, April 25th. Tickets can be purchase at Route 66 Raceway's ticket office, by phone 888-629-RACE (7223) or online at www.route66raceway.com.
