THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING
4/19/2004
The staging lanes were full of racers and friends enjoying a homecoming of sorts after the long winter. Many had plenty to talk about including new paint jobs and winter modifications, but a main discussion was the new Route 66 Raceway track surface. Here?s what a few had to say on Saturday:
Charlie Jedeniewski (New Lenox,IL), driving a 48 Fiat Altered:
?I am doing licensing runs today, so I am only going half passes, but from what I can tell it is better than ever.?
Ted Cannon (Dekalb, IL), driving a Comp Fab Dragster:
?It is excellent. Normally my best 60 foot is 1.128. This morning I got a 1.13 right out of the box. It was my first run, I was in the left lane, and it was smooth as glass. I never really felt like they (Route 66 Raceway) needed to change anything here, but it proves that they want it good for us racers.?
Tom Malone (Morris, IL),driving a 89 Spitzer Dragster:
?My 1st time down the track it was very smooth, and had good traction. That?s unusual for a racetrack, but this place is always good. At some other tracks you don?t know what you?ll get, but this place is always good.?
It?s smooth, it?s fast and it?s ready for another record breaking season. Join us this week on Tuesday, April 20 for another Test & Tune presented by Beaver Creek Trailers at Route 66 Raceway, gates open at 4:00 p.m.
